Can you help Audrey find her way home?

Important updates from Seattle Humane

Dear Friend,

We're reaching out to the entire Seattle Humane family today — thousands of animal lovers like you — to draw attention to a very special dog. Audrey is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix with big brown eyes and cute little white hairs sprinkled all over her face. She's been waiting longer than most to find her forever home.

More than 500 days to be exact. Nearly half her life.

Audrey is currently living comfortably in a foster home, receiving all the love and attention she deserves. But she needs a permanent home. A family that will change her life. We're hoping this email will do that.

Audrey originally came to us from California in 2018. She was adopted three times and returned three times. She's a sweet and mellow girl who loves nothing more than cuddling on a couch and giving lots of kisses. She's always up for a car ride or a game of tug in the yard. She's smart, too, excelling at the training and puzzle toys she's received in our care.

So why has she been with us so long?

Audrey is dog reactive, meaning she needs to be the only dog in the home. Even seeing another dog on a walk is a challenge for her.

Here is what she needs:

  • All outside exercise be limited to a fenced yard (or a rural area with no other dogs around)
  • No apartments or dog-dense areas
  • A cat-free home, due to a high prey drive
  • Children in the home are teens and older

Audrey also has a little quirk — she likes bright, shiny things. Lights and reflections, to be exact. She can watch them for a very long time. But with the help of inexpensive medications and some prompting from her humans, she will go back to doing normal dog stuff.

We’ve featured Audrey in countless ways on social media and reached out to more than a dozen rescues. Nothing has worked, but we’re not giving up. Not on Audrey. That’s why today we’re calling on YOU and all members of the Seattle Humane family to join Audrey’s Rescue Squad.

What can you do?

Foster Audrey First

The good news is that all potential adopters have the option of Foster-to-Adopt with Audrey! This allows you to give Audrey a try for a few days or weeks, with full support from our Foster and Behavior teams. If it doesn’t work out, you can bring Audrey back. It gives her time with a new family and we’ll know a little more on what kind of home she’d do best in. Audrey is also part of our Home Free program, where adopters set the adoption fee that works for them.

We Can Do This

We know Audrey may not be the perfect fit for your family. But the right family for her IS out there. Help us find them. Our Adoptions team is here to answer all your questions about Audrey. Contact them at (425) 649-7563 or adoption@seattlehumane.org.

With your help, we know 2021 will be Audrey’s best year. And some lucky family will get to know and love this sweet girl with big brown eyes and little white hairs sprinkled all over her face. Thank you.
