Update from Seattle Humane. | | As you celebrate today with friends and family, know that your generosity has given a second chance to pets in need. Thanks to you, these once-homeless pets and thousands more, will fall asleep with full bellies, warm beds, and a family who loves them. Beck Beck, a senior Basset Hound mix, was transferred to Seattle Humane for life-saving medical care. Our veterinarian removed a tumor from Beck's ear, and he recovered in the care of a volunteer foster family. While keeping him comfortable, the foster family also helped to build Beck’s confidence in new people with happy talk, treats, and playtime. After 10 months of TLC, Beck was adopted! Oliver Thanks to the Life-Saver Rescue Program, we're able to transfer in pets like Oliver from crowded shelters where they might be overlooked by potential adopters. Oliver, a 6-year-old charmer, was transferred to Seattle Humane from a shelter in California and adopted within days of his arrival. Penny and Wendy Bonded guinea pigs, Penny and Wendy, were surrendered to the shelter when their family could no longer care for them. In our care, these sweet girls received lots of forehead pets, fresh greens, and interactive toys that brought out their playful personalities. Their adorable squeals caught the attention of a special someone, and Penny and Wendy now enjoy being the center of attention in their new home. | |
No animal deserves to suffer, especially during the holidays. But cats and dogs in our community are waiting for a loving family and a safe home. We need friends like you who believe they can make a difference for animals in need like Ernie. Transferred through our Life-Saver Rescue Program, when Ernie arrived at Seattle Humane, our veterinary team noticed cuts and wounds on his sweet little face. Our medical staff worked hard to diagnose and treat Ernie’s condition, which was determined to be an unusual skin disorder. When he fully recovered, Ernie was adopted by a wonderful new family and this year, he will be spending the holidays healthy, surrounded by joy and love. Give to the 2019 Holiday Drive to Save Lives to help more animals like Ernie. Your gift can provide a chance for homeless and sick animals to find loving families this holiday season. Please give generously today. For the animals, | | | Brynn Blanchard Chief Advancement Officer | | | | | | | Unsubscribe from receiving email, or change your email preferences.

Seattle Humane monthly newsletter. Updates, events, and more! | Hurricane Dorian Cats Rescued — and Adopted! Last week we welcomed a flight of cats and kittens affected by Hurricane Dorian's devastating impact on The Bahamas. This transfer was the most recent in a year that has brought more than 3,750 pets into Seattle Humane's care through our Life-Saver Rescue Program, which is also preparing for the arrival of animals impacted by the California wildfires.
The great news is that all of the kitties were adopted, including Chris (pictured above)! While some of the cats arrived needing medical care before they could be ready for adoption, they each received immediate medical attention and quickly recovered. And it's thanks to generous animal advocates like you who make animals a priority in our community.

And we know just the lady: Puma! This 12-year-old girl has a super cute, raspy meow and is the kind of kitty who wants to make you feel extra special. Once she bonds with you, she's the purr-fect friend.
Puma has been in our care since May, when her former family wasn't able to care for her any longer. She’s an older lady, so she would love to live the rest of her years in a quiet, loving home, free of young children and other pets. Because she’s uncomfortable in a shelter setting, she’s been living in foster care and hasn’t been able to show off how sweet and precious she is. Puma’s former companions have shared that she loves to cuddle and always wants to be in the same room as you. She enjoys sleeping, bird watching, and playing with feathered toys. In fact, she really likes chasing toys and hiding and sneaking up on them. She’s so cute and playful! Even though she’s a little older, you can instantly bring out her wild, silly side by tempting her with catnip, one of her favorite treats! She’s extremely food motivated, so bonding with her over treats is really special. She will need time and space to become completely comfortable in a new household, but she’s totally worth the wait. Once you open your heart to her, you’ll have a sweet, purring companion for life.
Can you change Puma’s life by giving her a loving home of her own? Contact our adoption team for more information at adoption@seattlehumane.org or (425) 649-7563. Due to the high volume of calls, our team will do their best to get back to you as soon as they can. Update from Seattle Humane. | | | In September, The Bahamas were devastated by Hurricane Dorian, the strongest hurricane on record for the island nation. Today, thanks to support from our community, Seattle Humane is caring for more than a dozen cats and kittens from The Bahamas.
Wednesday night, we greeted a plane carrying this special cargo who were previously surrendered or found as strays prior to the hurricane. None of these cats were separated from their families during or after the hurricane. Instead, this life-saving flight helped bring pets already housed at the Bahama Humane Society, allowing the facility the resources to help more lost and stray pets.
This life-saving transfer from a disaster-struck area is one of several we've helped with this year. In March it was pets from Alabama shelters affected by tornadoes and, in June, pets displaced by the record-breaking floods in Arkansas.
More than 3,750 pets have been transferred to Seattle Humane this year through our Life-Saver Rescue Program -- and we stand ready to support shelters devastated by this year's California wildfires. | You can help bring more pets to safety when you make a life-saving gift today. | Ways to support life-saving pet rescues: | - ADOPT.
