Learn more about best friends Cheeto & Mochi.
| Best Friends Fur-ever! In September, Cheeto (FKA Spice) and her siblings came to Seattle Humane through our friends at Underground Community Cat Rescue. She had an upper respiratory infection and needed a little more time than her siblings in a foster home. Mochi (FKA Rocket Jr.) also came to us in the late summer from The Good Cat Network in Hawaii and we quickly spotted the telltale signs of ringworm, which delayed his adoption for a month while he was treated for that persistent fungal infection. It just so happened that Mochi was cleared for adoption at the time Cheeto’s family was searching Seattle Humane for a kitty companion for her. Adopted two days apart, Cheeto and Mochi have spent the past three months developing a beautiful bond with each other and their new humans.
“They spend a lot of time every day chasing one another around, wrestling and hunting for toys,” their mom says. “Mochi is the cuddliest kitten I have ever met, and spends each night curled up next to my shoulders purring away. He loves to chase Cheeto and find places to hide his spring toys. Best of all, both Cheeto and Mochi love to be around people and greet every person who comes through the door with purrs and cuddles. They are extremely personable, friendly and comfortable around new people.”
Thank you to Cheeto and Mochi’s family for capturing these cuddly moments and for giving these two purrfect kitties a loving home!

Featured Pet: Maximus Maximus is a very handsome shelter cat who just celebrated his third birthday at Seattle Humane, where he’s been looking for a family since last May. Maximus is very playful and enjoys receiving pets, though like most cats, on his terms. He will even play fetch! Maximus will do best in a family with lots of cat experience and who can read his body language to know when he’s getting overstimulated or uncomfortable. He will also benefit from his own private space inside his new home where he can decompress. Anyone wanting to adopt Maximus should understand that it will take time for him to settle into his new home environment. His new family can name his adoption fee!

Seattle Humane’s goal is to complete 800 of those surgeries for shelter and community pets. Check out our website to learn more about our Spay & Neuter Clinic and the crucial services we offer year-round through the Schuler Family Medical Center. Foster Spotlight: Renee B. With fostering, "goodbye is the goal." We want our foster pets to reach the stage where they’re ready to move on from their foster home to their adoptive home. It can be hard to say goodbye to a foster pet when you’ve put weeks and sometimes months into caring for them. Thankfully, Seattle Humane foster parent Renee B. knows every new foster will become her favorite in no time!
Our February Foster Spotlight grew up with a zeal to heal that started with animals, but Renee ended up pursuing a career in human medicine.
“I’ve loved and been drawn to animals my whole life,” she says. “I was that kid who brought home injured birds, squirrels and rabbits and tried to nurse them back to health. I also grew up with dogs and had a pony. If I hadn’t become a human doctor, I would probably have become a veterinarian.”
