Over 1,000 members of our Rescue Squad came together to raise more than $200,000 this Giving Tuesday.   YOU helped support over 100,000 pets and their families, deliver one million meals to community pets and provide compassionate care to every pet in our shelter this holiday season.    One of those grateful shelter pets is Legolas. We shared his incredible story of healing and hope this week—inspiring many of you to donate. Gifts of every size are instrumental in advancing our mission of saving lives and completing families. Ringworm cases have strict isolation requirements and can take months to treat, requiring regular lime sulfur dips and oral medications. Seattle Humane is one of just a few local shelters that treat ringworm, saving animals that would otherwise have an uncertain future due to a lack of space and resources at smaller shelters. Sick and abandoned, Kris's life was saved by a stranger's kindness.

A neighbor was dropping off pet supply donations at Seattle Humane one night when they encountered someone leaving a small kitten outside our building. They took the sweet kitty home, gave her a reindeer toy and named her Kris. The next day, the neighbor brought Kris back to Seattle Humane, where she received the medical care she needed and a doting foster parent to help her grow big and strong. A month later, Kris was adopted and is thriving in her new, loving home. Stories like this happen year-round here at the shelter and their happy endings wouldn't be possible without the support of our generous community.
