Worth the wait: Shyanne's story

Shyanne was suffering.

When I picked Shyanne up at Seattle Humane, my first thought was, “What a poor little creature.” She walked very slowly, wasn’t very energetic, and she spent most of her first few days sleeping. Her fur was patchy, with bald spots and the skin underneath was red. She wasn’t potty trained, and she absolutely hated being confined in her crate.

Shyanne’s true personality shines through.

As I got to know her, and she learned the crate is where she gets her meals, a warm bed and treats, we’ve been able to figure out her triggers. She gradually improved and began to stay in her pen a few hours at a time. She also learned potty training like a champ!

Shyanne now plays around like a puppy and makes fast friends everywhere she goes.

Worth the wait.

It hasn’t been easy, but hearing her snoring in a warm comfortable bed makes it all worth it. I hope one day to see her with a full coat and with a loving family that will give her the life she so deserves.

PUPDATE: Shyanne and Karla’s wishes both came true when Shyanne was recently adopted! Shyanne is an excellent reminder that while most transformations don’t happen overnight, they are worth the wait. We are so grateful to our foster volunteers and supporters for helping improve the lives of pets in need each and every day.
