For many families in our community, a hospitalization or loss of housing can lead to the surrender of a beloved pet. While the predicament is often temporary for the person, the impact being surrendered has on the pet is permanent. The good news? You have the power to provide a lifeline to families by supporting programs like Seattle Humane’s Supporting Pets Owners in Transition (SPOT) program.
The SPOT program uses Seattle Humane’s existing foster network to look after pets for owners who need temporary care due to housing insecurity, hospitalization or any other personal crisis.
The generosity of our Rescue Squad has funded temporary foster support for more than 100 SPOT clients this year — people like Ned, who desperately needed surgery but didn’t know who would care for his longtime companion, Buddy.
