Hitting the Ground Running in 2021 (plus a pile of puppies we helped!)

These adorable pups have all been adopted, and we aim to help many more just like them in 2021!

Hitting the Ground Running and New Support for Pet Owners!

As you can imagine, the last few weeks have been incredibly busy for all of us at Seattle Humane, but especially our new CEO Christopher Ross. Since joining us in January, he's spent much of his time learning about Seattle Humane and its dedicated team of staff, volunteers, foster families and the wonderful supporters who make our life-saving work possible. It's a fact — 90% of our funding comes from generous community support and we could not be more grateful for it. (Read on to see how you can help pets in need this week — and meet Christopher at our upcoming virtual luncheon!)

“It has been very clear, in the short time I have been with the organization, the impact of community outreach, a critical service offered prior to the pandemic, and Seattle Humane’s ability to expand access to those resources as part of their emergency response. It is heartwarming that, rather than just being a last resort for pets, we are also helping to keep animals out of the shelter system altogether, and we do that by making sure pet families have the resources they need. And we are doing all of this while remaining committed to sheltering unhoused pets until they find their new families,” Christopher said.

Just the other day, we were able to help the puppies you see above and their hardworking mama dog through our Pets For Life and Mom's Last Litter programs. Not familiar with them? You can read all about them in our new, expanded “Services” section on our website, including this Support for Pet Owners page, which lists all our innovative programs helping pets and their families in our community.

The pups pictured above were adopted out shortly after their spay and neuter surgeries. See it all in this video (c'mon, how can you resist seeing seven incredibly cute puppies piled in a bin?).

We've got a great program planned — our new CEO Christopher Ross will be speaking, along with two graduates of our Humane Teen Club who are doing amazing work in animal welfare. You'll also hear about all the changes we've made since the start of the pandemic, and the innovative ways we've met the challenges. A panel from our staff will also answer all your pet-related questions.

Silver (now Bean) — 'She's home.'

Picked up as a stray in Yakima, 10-month-old Bean came to us in late December through our Life-Saver program. She was adopted by her new adoring family Dec. 30, 2020.

"Here is Silver (now known as Bean), feeling right at home with our family. Our girls are just in love with her, and Bean follows them around everywhere looking for cuddles and attention. She is just the sweetest, friendliest, and most understanding cat ever. We are so lucky that she joined our family! We just can't imagine life without her now! 💜 Here are a few of the approximately one million photos I have of her on my phone Thank you again for all of your help." — Dawn
