Puppies and Kittens ARE COUNTING ON YOU | | Your gift helps provide them with food, shelter, lifesaving veterinary care . . . and hope. | | Each spring, Seattle Humane is faced with an influx of newborn puppies and kittens. Our goal is to give each one of them hope for a happy life. But we’re also faced with our busiest season and we urgently need your help to meet their critical needs! Will you help Seattle Humane raise $10,000 by March 31 to give each of these precious animals their best future? | | What Is Kitten and Puppy Season? | Traditionally, shelters have been faced with an overwhelming influx of kittens and puppies in the late spring and early summer, though in our area the season has grown to be nearly year-round. Caring for these newborns poses many challenges. | | | OVERCROWDING | In addition to caring for our regular population of cats, dogs, and critters, Seattle Humane makes space for additional newborn animals during kitten and puppy season. We work with foster families and partner shelters to avoid overcrowding, making sure all animals in our care are comfortable. | | | SPECIAL RESOURCES | Many kittens and puppies require special resources to make sure they are healthy and growing. This forces shelters to spend more of our budgets on formula, food, warming blankets and more for the newborns. | | | MEDICAL ISSUES | Because kittens and puppies are more susceptible to illness and require more frequent monitoring than older animals, newborns also require more time and medical attention from our veterinary and animal care staff. | | | ADOPTION STRUGGLES | One of the most challenging issues with kitten and puppy season is adoption. Families often want to adopt kittens and puppies, making it more difficult for older pets to find their new, loving homes. | | | Your gift today helps us face these challenges and provides spay and neuter surgeries to prevent future litters. Thank you for helping us care for each and every animal who comes through our doors. | | | | | | |
