JJ's Ready for Sounders' Match Day and GiveBIG!

GiveBIG to help hundreds of animals between now and May 8

Your GiveBIG gift saves lives

GiveBIG today and make an impact for thousands of cats, dogs and small animals who will enter our doors this year!

Your gift will help animals like JJ. Arriving at Seattle Humane from another shelter that did not have the resources to care for him, JJ came to us with a broken leg and developed kennel cough.

Our veterinarians and animal care staff monitored his fracture and treated his illness, carefully nursing him back to health. When you make a GiveBIG gift, you are helping pets like JJ receive the treatment and the new, loving home they deserve.

JJ's ready for GiveBIG!

Win Sounders Tickets!

It's match day! If you're heading to the pitch today or catching the game on TV, be on the lookout for the Sounders to give a shout out to Seattle Humane. Thanks to animal lover and #3 defender Jonathan Campbell, we'll be highlighted during today's match along with his teammate's favorite non-profits that are participating in GiveBIG.

As a bonus, every Seattle Humane GiveBIG donor will be entered to win ten Seattle Sounders FC tickets for the match on May 15 at CenturyLink Field. The lucky winner will also receive a signed soccer ball from Seattle Humane supporter Jonathan Campbell. The drawing will take place on May 9.

What are you waiting for? GiveBIG right MEOW!

Out of town or busy on May 8? Schedule your gift today and GiveBIG right MEOW!

What is GiveBIG?

GiveBIG is a springtime Seattle tradition and the city's largest day of giving. Founded by Seattle Foundation in 2011, this is the first year 501 Commons is hosting the online giving event. GiveBIG is a fun way to support local organizations and see the impact your gifts make throughout the day on social media.

We hope you'll make a difference for the animals at Seattle Humane and GiveBIG!

Win Sounders Tickets!

Every Seattle Humane GiveBIG donor will be entered to win ten Seattle Sounders FC tickets for the match on May 15 at CenturyLink Field. The lucky winner will also receive a signed soccer ball from Seattle Humane supporter and animal lover #3 Jonathan Campbell. The drawing will take place on May 9. What are you waiting for? GiveBIG right MEOW!

Even more GiveBIG NEWS

501 Commons has grown how everyone can participate in GiveBIG. Check out these ways to get involved and spread the word about why you support Seattle Humane:

  • Introduce your family, friends and colleagues to Seattle Humane and launch a personal fundraiser. It's fun and easy to create a fundraising page for the animals, set your goal, and share your love of animals! (You can also create a fundraiser for Seattle Humane on your personal Facebook page.)
  • Has your employer been looking for a way to get staff involved in fundraising? Start a corporate campaign and band together to raise much needed funds for cats, dogs and small critters.
  • If you're looking for a way to support Seattle Humane through your Donor Advised Fund, GiveBIG is a great time to send your gift. Learn more.

Don't forget to see the purrfect matches your support makes possible -- we'll be sharing them throughout the day on social media on Wednesday, May 8.

Thank you for giving BIG for cats, dogs and small critters!

Will YOU come to the rescue?

slide-4-1327.jpg

There are still spots open for participants in the 2019 Mission Impawsible fundraiser for Seattle Humane! Will you be the next hero to go Over the Edge and rescue animals from the 40th floor?

Each year, Seattle Humane welcomes over 8,000 cats, dogs, and other companion animals into our shelter and provides these orphaned animals with top-notch care until they’ve found a loving family. Your involvement in Mission Impawsible will ensure that shelter animals receive the time, care, and attention they need. This is a thrilling and fun way to raise funds for the lifesaving work that Seattle Humane does every day!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Ask your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to support Seattle Humane’s mission by donating to your Mission Impawsible fundraiser! Raise $2,500 (or more!) and have the opportunity to descend a 40-story skyscraper in downtown Seattle!

Heights not your thing? You can dedicate another brave hero to descend in your place!

RAISE IT TO WIN IT!
Thanks to a generous donor, we have a very exciting prize to announce. For every $100 you raise in the days leading to Mission Impawsible, you will earn one entry* into a drawing to win a 55” LG television! That’s one entry for every $100*, so the more you raise the more chances you’ll have to win! So get those emails out there and try to raise your way to a new TV.

Seattle Humane invites you to take this incredible opportunity to jump to the rescue of orphaned animals on July 21, 2019. Remember, every foot down is a leg up for animals in need!

Are you ready to take on this challenge?  Yes, get my harness ready!

*Participants must raise at least $2,000 to be eligible to win. Drawing closed to additional entries after July 21, 2019.

April eNews: Open for spring events and adoption specials

Updates from Seattle Humane

   April 2019 eNews

squiggles-2.jpg

April is all about new beginnings

This Monday was a miracle. Rewind 343 days when Squiggles came to Seattle Humane. Unlike other exuberant puppies, Squiggles was terribly frightened of the world. Squiggles had suffered abuse, was terrified of men, and heartbreak was all he knew. Squiggles had a long way to go to learn he was safe and loved.

Our shelter staff and volunteers jumped in to teach this sweet boy that life can be great. Seattle Humane staff worked with him every day to desensitize him to his fears and triggers. Squiggles grew braver and made friends. Eventually he was ready for our Foster-to-Adopt program where he finally met his person. Squiggles' foster dad and now adopter named him Rusty. Rusty spent 340 days with us, a long time for a dog under 2. But now he'll have the lifetime of love and home he deserved all along.

Thanks to you, Seattle Humane can give pets like Rusty the chance to overcome their challenges medical and behavioral   for their new beginnings. With some time and TLC, anything is possible.

April Pet Spotlight: Meet Trudeau!

Trudeau-1.jpg

Meet Trudeau, a 6-year-old Labrador Retriever! Trudeau came to us when his owner had to move and could not take him. He's understandably subdued in the shelter setting, having previously lived in a home. His foster mom reports that he's gentle, affectionate and calm in the house. We are looking for a patient adopter who will take the time to understand his needs and be his best pal. Trudeau can live with adults and dog-savvy teenagers but he must be the only dog in the home. Trudeau is currently in a foster home but you can call Seattle Humane at 425-649-7563 to set up a meeting!

Are you a leader of the pack?

Leader of the Pack_1.jpg

We're excited to announce the launch of our new donor program, Leader of the Pack. Leader of the Pack members are compassionate and generous animal lovers whose gifts provide the foundation of the life-saving work we do. They contribute $1,000 and more in a calendar year, and by doing so are eligible to enjoy special opportunities for engagement and experience first-hand the impact they are making on the lives of animals at Seattle Humane. For more information about becoming a Leader of the Pack, contact Lisa Huang, Major Gifts Officer, at 425-274-1507 or email LisaHuang@seattlehumane.org.

What you may not know about giving to charities this tax season

Are you 70 1/2 or older and required to make a minimum distribution from your IRA? Typically, required IRA distributions are taxed. But you can give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a favorite charity or cause, such as Seattle Humane, without paying any income taxes on the money. And any amount, large or small, can be given under this provision at any time of year before December 31. To learn more, click here or contact Scott Fraser, Esq., Major and Planned Giving Director, at (425) 373-5387 or scott@seattlehumane.org.

Adoption Promotions
