Updates from Seattle Humane    February 2019 eNews World Spay Day is Feb. 26 – snip to save lives!   Help us spread the word! Seattle Humane has partnered with South County Cats to provide 50 cats with FREE spay and neuter surgeries, microchips and vaccination services for World Spay Day on Tuesday, Feb. 26 (income restrictions apply). It's estimated that a third of pets in the U.S. are unfixed.This international day of action strives to prevent pet overpopulation by providing education and accessible spay and neuter services to pet owners. Appointments are limited – don't hesitate to schedule yours today.   Support Our Mission: Tickets on sale March 1 for Tuxes & Tails The year has only started but we're already busy making preparations for our biggest annual event, Tuxes & Tails! We hope you'll join us for our gala's 30th anniversary on Saturday, May 11. Whether you've attended this event in the past or are new to our fur family, you won't want to miss this celebration! As always, guests are in store for a lively auction, cocktail hour, kitten cuddle booth, pet runway show, puppy kisses and more! Tickets go on sale March 1, 2019 and benefit pets in need at Seattle Humane. Check our website and Facebook page for updates. Single-day youth camp registration available for Midwinter Break!    We are excited to offer fun new programming for animal-loving kids over Midwinter break this year. Join us for Animal Adventures Camp, Feb. 18-21. We offer four days of activities for youth ages 8 to 12. Kids will spend the week learning the value of animal companionship, proper pet care and handling, and how they can help shelter animals in need, all while having a blast! Camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Feb 18-21. Aftercare is available for an additional fee from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Single-day registration is still available. Busy days for our Pet Food Bank Our volunteers and donors amaze us every day but we've seen incredible support and participation in response to last month's government shutdown. Thanks to you, we are able to distribute between 16,000 and 18,000 pounds of pet food to local food banks every month and serve thousands of families in need, all while continuing to take calls from new families who need our help. You can learn more about what's been going on at our Pet Food Bank and how to get involved in this week's blog.    February Pet Spotlight - Meet Jasper!  Meet Jasper, a stunning 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/Hound mix. This sweet and sensitive boy knows "Sit" and loves belly rubs. Jasper has lived with other dogs but we think he might prefer to be the only dog in the home. As the active boy he is, Jasper would not only like a good walk each day, but also activities that will challenge his mind like puzzle toys. After a full day, this handsome boy is ready to cuddle up for more pets, and of course, belly rubs! Make Jasper a part of your family and he will make you the center of his universe.
