A very special story of survival, care and compassion

Your Gift Helps Pets in Need This Holiday Season
View online
Save 2X the animals this holiday season. Match My Gift.
This holiday season, you can give one of the greatest gifts to pets in our community: a second chance.

Your gift today can help save the lives of twice as many cats, dogs and critters thanks to a special donation from supporters of Seattle Humane!

When you make a gift today, you can help pets like Salem and Syrus, whose story is one of survival, expert care and compassion.
Salem and Syrus escaped from their home over the Fourth of July weekend. For about four months, they had been surviving outside on their own, enduring the elements without shelter or food.

Thankfully, their story took a positive turn last month when a compassionate woman saw a post on social media that mentioned two stray cats near her home. When she arrived to rescue them, she found them to be in bad health, cold and malnourished—living near a dumpster. This caring member of our Rescue Squad tried to take them to private vet clinics, but couldn't get in without an appointment.

Fearing for their health and nervous to leave them overnight without medical attention, Salem and Syrus’ rescuer brought them to Seattle Humane. Even though the shelter was preparing to close for the night, two of our dedicated veterinary staff cared for the feline duo for hours past closing, working to stabilize them.

After receiving lifesaving care in our medical center and shelter, including surgery to remove foreign objects from Syrus’ stomach, these handsome brothers were cared for by a foster family, where they continued to regain their health and strength. A few days later, their owner saw a Seattle Humane post about the pair on social media and contacted us.

Working with our Pet Resource Center, Salem and Syrus were finally reunited with their owner! Tracy, one of our staff members there for the reunion, recently commented, "It was such a heartwarming reunion for her and the kitties. It was clear right away that they knew each other. She was just in tears seeing them again."

Watch this heartwarming story of survival, care and compassion.

Today, Syrus and Salem are once again living comfortably with their owner as well as their brother Sinclair and mom, Josephine.

"Salem and Syrus are happy to back home with their momma Josephine and brother Sinclair," says their owner. "I will always stay in touch with you guys, so thankful towards you all. I am thrilled to have my fabulous 4 back together again, we were seriously incomplete without them."

With your support, we’ll continue our work to save lives, complete families, and keep pets with the people who love them. Please, send a special gift today and help more pets like Salem and Syrus when they need us most.

Give today and your gift will DOUBLE in value, helping TWICE as many pets receive love, care and compassion this winter and in 2022. Thank you!
