Your GiveBIG Gift Will Help Families in Need Seattle Humane has expanded its approach to our lifesaving mission, reaching beyond the shelter to connect pets and the families who love them with services that preserve and strengthen the human-animal bond. Just one of these services is our temporary foster program, SPOT. Working with our existing foster care network, SPOT provides temporary care for the pets of people facing housing insecurity, hospitalization or other crisis situations. Sweet Moe was transferred to Seattle Humane from California in October 2019, and he was adopted the very next day. Everything was going great for Moe and his adopter...and then the pandemic hit. Not only did Angela, Moe’s pet parent, lose her job, she also had an ailing mother who needed her help several states away.  Thanks to SPOT and our community of dedicated supporters, Moe was able to stay with another family while Angela tended to her mother and prepared to be reunited with Moe at their new home in Arizona. With an estimated 50,000 households at risk for eviction in King County and the current economic crisis, more and more people are contacting us and requesting help caring for their pets. We anticipate this trend will continue and we're here to help.
