Help Pets Like Socks Receive Life-Saving Surgery

One look into these sweet eyes will tell you why our staff and volunteers fell in love with Socks, a kitten who came into our care this summer. While Socks prevailed — thanks to specialized veterinary care — our specialty fund for cases like his is running low. Is Socks worth it? We think so! That’s why we’re asking for your support for our Pets With Special Needs Fund. Your donation will go directly to help animals like Socks who need emergency care, and every dollar makes a BIG impact!

Watch our video to learn more about Socks' story. You can help more pets like him receive the life-saving care they need by making a gift. We thank you for your support.

Pet Spotlight: Jace
Jace is a 3-year-old mixed breed pup in need of a special adopter! This boy loves people and playtime, but he can be fearful of new faces at first, so he would greatly benefit from a canine-savvy adopter to help boost his confidence. Our volunteers and animal care team love taking Jace out for day trips! Even though he takes a while to trust someone new, he loves meeting new people when done slowly and properly. Once he knows you, he loves to cuddle and is very protective of loved ones.

Are you a runner? One of Jace's favorite hobbies is running around for exercise! He also loves toys, especially ropes and bones. Unfortunately, Jace's former owner didn't have the time to train and work with him, so he surrendered Jace in hopes of giving him the life he deserves. Sometimes Jace wants to guard toys or food, but he gives plenty of body language cues, letting his people know when he's protecting it. This is a very common behavior for dogs, and it's also manageable! There are plenty of techniques to prevent and manage resource guarding. He just needs a dog-savvy human companion to help practice good behavior. Plus, we'll make sure that any future adopter (if they'd like to) has access to and receives personalized training sessions with Jace.

Have pets? Jace lived successfully with another dog, and he has shown a friendly curiosity toward felines, so a family with a resident dog or cat could be a good fit. His adopter should be living in an adult-only home, at least until they can help manage his fear of strangers.

If you can change Jace's life by giving him a loving home of his own, contact our adoption team by emailing adoption@seattlehumane.org or calling (425) 649-7563. Due to the high volume of calls, our team will do their best to get back to you as soon as they can. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
