We raised more than $87,000 at Glow in the Park to support critical pet rescues!
An incredible $87,000 was raised at our “Glow in the Park” walk last Saturday at Green Lake Park! We celebrated animals in true Seattle style with a little bit of rain, food trucks, a beer garden, and adorable dogs. Nearly 600 Seattle Humane supporters and their four-legged friends walked the 3-mile trail at to show their support for animal welfare sporting their best costumes and glow-in-the-dark attire. This year’s fundraising walk benefited our Life-Saver Rescue Program, which saves thousands of at-risk animals every year from shelters that don’t have the space or resources to care for them.We want to bridge the gap over the next few days as donations continue to come in to reach our goal of $100,000. Want to help? You can make a tax-deductible donation here. Reaching $100,000 will allow us to continue rescuing pets in need with the same strength and efficiency as years before. Thank you to all of the staff, volunteers, donors, and walkers who made Glow in the Park a huge success! With everyone's incredible support, these critical funds will provide food, shelter, and medical care for thousands of orphaned pets. Save the date for Grand Opening!
We have a big announcement and invitation for you – we’re wrapping up this transformative year with our Grand Opening Celebration on Dec. 9, 2017. Get ready for festive pet adoptions and activities, delicious treats, and informative tours. We have some major facility upgrades and pet adoptions we'd like to celebrate together. If you’re one of our incredible donors who purchased a brick or paver at the new facility, get ready to see your love set in stone in our new “Walk Of Fame” by the end of the year. Installation begins this month and we’re on schedule to show off the finished product at our Grand Opening. We are excited for these heartfelt momentos to provide a warm welcome for everyone who enters our shelter doors.
We appreciate your patience as we approach the end of construction on campus. Until our new parking lot is ready, visitors will need to use Seattle Humane’s new temporary entrance on SE 32nd street in Bellevue rather than entering on SE Eastgate Way. We have a small gravel lot available for adopters adjacent to the driveway of our temporary entrance. Would you like to attend an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Seattle Humane’s new facility and learn how you can help ensure Seattle Humane remains the safety net for generations of animals? You’ll be able to see our state-of-the-art veterinary teaching hospital in action and snuggle with some adoptable pets. If you’re interested, please contact Scott Fraser, Seattle Humane’s Planned Giving Director, at scott@seattlehumane.org or (425) 373-5387. Ask your vet to volunteer for our clinics!
We are in great need of Volunteer Veterinarians to assist low-income HIV/AIDS and cancer patients at quarterly clinics for health and wellness of their animals. Vets are not committed to multiple clinics. These clinics focus on basic wellness and include an exam by DVM, vaccines, nail trims, ear cleaning and possible dental scheduling for future dates. These clinics are not intended for emergency care or surgical procedures. Seattle Humane can also provide medications related to the visit (including flea treatment or dewormers). The intent of the clinics is not only to ensure health and wellness of each animal, but also to prevent surrender of animals to the shelter due to inability to pay for basic animal care. When: November 7, 2017 (tentative) Where: Regional Animal Services: Kent (in interim until Seattle Humane can utilize new space) Time Commitment: 5-6 hours We would be very grateful for any help or referrals to help these wonderful folks and their animals!
